Dr. Nwachukwu earned her MBBS from the University of Ibadan, College of Medicine in Nigeria and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Nashville General Hospital, Meharry Medical College. She further specialized with a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to clinical excellence and research, contributing to critical studies on diabetes and endocrinology.
Her clinical role includes significant experience as an Attending/Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at SIU Physicians and Surgeons Inc., where she worked collaboratively with a team to provide exceptional care and education to medical students, residents, and fellows. Her research work focused on innovative projects such as the effects of Vitamin D supplementation on depression in African Americans with Type 2 Diabetes, underscoring her commitment to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.
